Disability-affirming dietitian in Kilsyth and online

I'm Jack, a disability-affirming Accredited Practising Dietitian. I work with people with disability of all ages, and with their families and carers, in Kilsyth and by telehealth across Australia. Our sessions follow your goals and your needs.

Why disability-affirming care matters

People with disability live in a society that often isn't built for them. That creates extra barriers every day, including in health care [1]. On top of this, many people are dealing with the stress of ongoing changes to disability support, and with public and political debate about whether their support is worth the cost.

I want my sessions to be a place where you are respected and your needs are met, without having to justify them.

How I work

  • You lead. We work on the goals that matter to you, at a pace that suits you.

  • Your access needs. Tell me what helps you take part, and we'll work out together how to make it happen.

  • Carers and support workers are welcome. I'm glad to work with the people who support you, and you stay at the centre of every conversation.

  • Texture-modified diets. If you need softer or modified textures, I can help you eat well and enjoy food within your texture plan. I work alongside your speech pathologist, who sets the texture level [2].

What a session looks like

The first appointment is 60 minutes. We talk about what's going well, what feels hard and what you'd like from our time together. Your goals come first, and your carer or support worker is welcome to join. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. I see people in person in Kilsyth on Saturdays and Sundays, and by telehealth from Wednesday to Sunday. The first appointment costs $180 and follow-ups cost $110.

Who I see

I see people with disability of all ages, and their families and carers. People book with me for many reasons, including:

  • following a texture-modified diet and wanting to eat well within it

  • not eating enough, low appetite or unplanned weight loss

  • a small range of accepted foods, or sensory sensitivities that make eating harder

  • constipation or other bowel concerns

  • general health, such as diabetes, heart health or wanting to improve day-to-day habits

  • eating well on a budget, or planning meals with a support worker

  • wanting to understand nutrition better

If you're not sure whether I'm the right dietitian for you, send me a message using the message box at the bottom of this page. We can talk it through before you book.
